The following is a list of classes that prepare students to take Fire Department tests as individually described below.

STA GUARANTY: Should you fail to pass the test the first time, you may retake the course for free. (One time offer only).

The class size is never more then 11 students, which provides for more personalized training. The group will learn not just how to take the test and cover material on the test, but also gain knowledge on how the two systems work.

Students will receive a reference letter for the Fire Department with recommendations from STA for taking the test.

Note: The cost of these classes is for class and materials. This does not include FDNY fees of $25.00 to take each test.

Course Number Z 00-  (Application- PDF file) Sprinkler and Standpipe

Preparation for FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Z 00 Sprinkler and Standpipe.

Monday, October 12, 2010 from 6pm to 9pm (first day of class)

Wednesday, October 20, 2010 from 6pm to 9pm (day two of class)

Monday, October 25, 2010 from 6pm to 9pm (last day of class)

Total of 9 hrs. Total Cost is $95.00 for members and $175.00 for non members.

You may become a member at class if you are not already a member. 

Deposit of $30.00 prior to class is required.  Balance payment due at first day of class

Note:  This cost is for class and Materials.  This does not include FDNY $25.00 fee.

Students at course completion may take with confidence the New York Fire Department test for Certificate of Fitness for Sprinkler (city main supply) and / or Sprinkler (gravity tank).

These two Fire Dept Certificates are important for most New York City Superintendents.

The class is broken into three sections, 3 hrs each. If students need more time, extra time will be given without extra cost.

Students will be provided with the necessary forms they can use on the job to log all records of inspections as required by the Fire Department.

Course Number P99 (Application- PDF file) #6 oil burners

Preparation for FDNY Certificate of Fitness in P-99 Low Pressure Oil Burner.

Friday, October 22,  2010  from 6pm to 9pm (first day)

Friday, October 29, 2010 from 6pm to 9pm (last day)

Total of 6 hours. Total Cost is $85.00 for members and $155.00 for non members.

Deposit of $30.00 prior to class is required.  Balance Payment due at first day of class.

Note:  This cost is for class and Materials.  This does not include FDNY $25.00 fee.

The class is broken into six sections, 3 hours each.

Wednesday, October 6, 2010 from 6pm-9pm (First Day)

Thursday, October 7, 2010 from 6pm-9pm (Second Day)

Wednesday, October 13, 2010 from 6pm-9pm (Third Day)

Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 6pm-9pm (Fourth Day)

Thursday, October 21, 2010 from 6pm-9pm (Fifth Day)

Wednesday, October 27, 2010 from 6pm-9pm (Last Day)

This class explains the main functions of building systems such as:

Heating:  Steam systems such as: One pipe, two pipe, vacuum systems and hot water heating systems.

Cooling:  Absorption and compressor type central air conditioning systems, cooling tower operations.

Hot water:  Different ways how hot water is made and distributed

Elevators:  Elevator systems will be discussed and new codes as well as maintenance issues

Plumbing:  Basic plumbing systems of buildings and how the water is circulated in low rise and high rise buildings.  Drainage and venting will also be explained and discussed.

Green Technology GT101. (Application- pdf file) 3 Hour Class - NEW CLASS

Introduction to Green Technology without the complicated math that you will never use.  You will leave this class understanding Green Sustainable Energy, keep up with the jargon and be able to get involved with greening your building.
